Matereality releases 4.0 software to deploy interactive material databases

Ithaca, NY: October 6, 2010

Matereality, LLC, Ithaca, NY has combined the power of its patent protected extensible data storage platform with the latest in SaaS software tools to deploy fully functional databases that allow engineers to search, analyze and collaborate with material data like never before. The Matereality Global Data Center hosts material databases from over 400 companies and creates a secure and collaborative space for material suppliers to share data with their end-user clients.

Interactive Data Viewer-
The new Material Data Viewer instantly visualizes data variation with parameters such as temperature, conditioning, time or speed. Multiple screens can be viewed at the same time to compare data. The engineer can review data, convert units and create their own comparative tables with a single-click into Excel. The Material Data Viewer is embeddable into internal content management systems, web-sites and reports for data dissemination, archival and cross-reference. This replaces traditional Excel and pdf attachments allowing everyone to examine data in rich interactive detail. Matereality data links can also be e-mailed using the Share functionality.

CAE Modeler-
In support of the product development community, Matereality has introduced the CAE Modeler. This SaaS module transforms raw data into CAE material model input decks. The modeler easily handles simple conversions such as elastic material models; however it is also capable of automating complex conversions such as stress-strain data into elastic-plastic models, hyperelastic data inputs for rubber and rate dependent models for crash simulations. This technology has already been praised by Matereality’s software partners including Abaqus, Algor, Ansys, LS-Dyna, Moldflow, Moldex 3D, NX Nastran, and PAM-CRASH.

At a recent demonstration of this new technology, reaction was emphatic. “ That would have taken me a half hour,” exclaimed Pat Granowicz Powertrain Development Manager at Dupont Automotive, after seeing the CAE Modeler prepare an Abaqus elastic-plastic material model from raw stress-strain data in a few seconds.

Secure Collaboration-
The Global Data Center enables tight collaboration between material suppliers and their end users to facilitate the controlled transmission of high-value material data. While such data is vital for new product development, material suppliers will not release it on public material data websites where anyone including competitors can have access to it. Instead, engineers have to contact the technical service groups to get this data. “Matereality is of vital importance to product innovation because it provides a trusted environment where end-users can directly locate and request access to design data,” says Hubert Lobo, Matereality founder and President of DatapointLabs, a primary source of material data for design and CAE.

The Matereality 4.0 software can be used against the Global Data Center or on personal material databases. Advanced tools such as Quick View and Advanced Search functionality have been added to assist in locating data.
